Meghalaya is best done as a loop, not a base-and-return, so we stay two nights at Cherrapunji instead of driving back to Shillong each evening.

The Double Decker Living Root Bridge trek is optional — it is 3,500 steps down and back — and we always keep an alternate day for anyone who would rather not.
